Patti's Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
(sift dry ingredients together)
Cut in 4 Tablespoons butter
1 cup (approx) buttermilk
Slowly add milk as you stir together to form your dough
Pat out on a floured board, cut with biscuit cutter (makes 12-14 biscuits)
Bake at 425 degrees for 10-15 minutes


Patti's Homemade Chocolate Syrup

Bring 1/4 cup of water to a boil
Mix dry ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Stir dry ingredients into boiling water (2-3 minutes or until sugar is fully dissolved and mixture begins to thicken)
Remove from heat
Stir in 1/4 teaspoon of Vanilla
Allow to cool enough to transfer into glass jar for storage in refrigerator
